Getting into a Healthy Positive Mindset *personal experience*

(Suicide Prevention)

I'm pretty sure that we've all experienced depression at some point in our lives; otherwise, you wouldn't be reading this. However, the thing about depression is how far we let it go; to put it another way, some people experience depression more than others for a variety of reasons, and once your depression reaches an extreme point, you start to feel suicidal.

Because the pain and weight, as well as how you feel about life in general, are not great, and you begin to wonder whether you should be living, because who would want to live a life that is so painful, numb, and draining?

When life becomes depressing, you begin to wonder, well what should I do next, what will excite me, and my recommendations are:-

STEP 1

Taking a break. Sometimes, we need to break just step back for a moment, whether from work, school, or a relationship, just step back and take a day or two to focus on ourselves. After all, the goal is for you to fall back in love with life, and to do so, you must take a step back from things that are stressing you out or simply not bringing you any type of joy.

STEP 2

Once you've taken that step back, the next step is to do things you enjoy and get into new habits. Personally, something I picked up doing while getting out of my depression state is going to the park, the whole environment is just really nice and comfortable, and it did me well as I normally spend most days in my house. I also picked up reading, I'd always love reading, I just got more into it, and tried out new genres of books.

So, start looking for new things to do. maybe even exploring your country/city.

STEP 3

Scheduling (Planning out your days). A lot of people don't realize the importance of planning a daily schedule for your life. Of course, things will come up unexpectedly on some days, and that's normal, that's life, so don't expect to plan your entire life on paper, because that's ridiculous.

A life schedule is beneficial because it shows you what you have planned for the day or week. Personally, having a schedule provided me with great motivation. For example, if I had Clean My Room on my list, even if I didn't want to do it, the gratification I knew I would receive from ticking that box motivated me to Clean My Room, and I'm sure it would be the same for you.

So plan, whether on paper or digitally, whether on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

And believe me, I used to despise planning. I lived with the mindset of simply letting the day pass and letting whatever happens, happens. But I gradually grew to appreciate planning because it allows you to set a goal for yourself (e.g., make my bed, a simple but meaningful goal that shows progress), and it will help you a lot in the long run by teaching you organization skills.

REMARKS:-

To be honest, I'm still learning how to not be depressed, and I still find myself relapsing, but the difference now is that I have a schedule, a plan, and things I can do to get myself out of that mood.

Remember that everything I've said is what works for me; I can't guarantee it will work for you, but there's no harm in trying.
